Set in the year 2020 in Washington, DC. Mr. Blackpeat's new work imagines the US subjugated to the three "lesser" powers of China, India and Russia where the new Fresh Start party puts on trial those responsible for the crimes of the old regime: preemptive wars and torture. Included among those tried are the former President, his cabinet and those people who profited from the old regime, including lawyers and lobbyists. The narrator, a Washington lawyer, is on trial and the story follows the trial under the new regime and the new weather conditions. The story provides totally unexpected twists and truns and reimagines a future that exposes the nature of guilt and evil and challenges its historical treatment. Legal Bisnow wrote an article about it entitled "Future Bestseller?"
